Make a Plan

While it may sound simple, many people simply don’t have a detailed plan for how their day is going to go. Talk to everyone who is coming, and know exactly what each person is going to bring to the dinner. Assign jobs to anyone who is helping you, and make a timeline for how the day is going to play out.

Be Flexible

With that said, things won’t go exactly as you plan. As long as you accept that going into the day, it won’t cause as much stress. Be flexible, and don’t let the small things stress you out and ruin your day.

Prepare in Advance

Prepare as much of the dinner and decorations before the actual day as possible. There’s nothing worse than running around at the last minute trying to get things ready as the guests arrive.

Follow these simple tips and your Thanksgiving Day dinner will run much more smoothly moving forward.

Did you go to the Valparaiso’s Fall Harvest Festival?

Fall Harvest Festival

Fall means moderate temperatures, colorful leaves, kids in costumes, scary movies, and all sorts of fun stuff. Of course, that also means that people are celebrating the season in a number of ways. Here in Valparaiso, we have the Fall Harvest Festival. Coming up in mid-October, the festival is a family-friendly, free event with activities ranging from hayrides to a dog costume contest, if you’re the type to dress up your furry friend for Halloween.

Fall Harvest Festival

In previous years the Fall Harvest Festival has only been a day long, but the event has become so popular it now spans two days of fall-themed activities. On Friday, October 14th from 4 to 6pm, as well as Saturday, October 15th from 11am until 2 pm, Downtown Valparaiso will be alive with fun activities. On Friday, dress up in your favorite costume and go around local restaurants and shops for a tasty treat and a hayride in Central Park Plaza. On Saturday, experience live music, a corn maze, face painting, and more, including the Pooh Parade.

The Fall Harvest Festival only comes around once a year and is a great way to interact with the community or just find something fun to do on the weekend. Whether you’re in costume or not, the festival is fun and entertaining for all. So let us know what you thought of the wonderful event!
