Fall means moderate temperatures, colorful leaves, kids in costumes, scary movies, and all sorts of fun stuff. Of course, that also means that people are celebrating the season in a number of ways. Here in Valparaiso, we have the Fall Harvest Festival. Coming up in mid-October, the festival is a family-friendly, free event with activities ranging from hayrides to a dog costume contest, if you’re the type to dress up your furry friend for Halloween.
In previous years the Fall Harvest Festival has only been a day long, but the event has become so popular it now spans two days of fall-themed activities. On Friday, October 14th from 4 to 6pm, as well as Saturday, October 15th from 11am until 2 pm, Downtown Valparaiso will be alive with fun activities. On Friday, dress up in your favorite costume and go around local restaurants and shops for a tasty treat and a hayride in Central Park Plaza. On Saturday, experience live music, a corn maze, face painting, and more, including the Pooh Parade.
The Fall Harvest Festival only comes around once a year and is a great way to interact with the community or just find something fun to do on the weekend. Whether you’re in costume or not, the festival is fun and entertaining for all. So let us know what you thought of the wonderful event!
No one can deny the fact that Chicago has some of the best food in the nation. Chicago may be known for its “Chicago-style” pizza, popcorn, and hot dogs, but there is more to our great city than the typical “Chicago” food. Chicago is a city of great diversity, which produces a wonderful variety of foods.
Whether you are visiting Chicago or are a local, we at Paul Sur Buick GMC highly recommend trying a “Spice of Life Tour.” This tour opportunity was created to allow people to experience a variety of foods and cultures in Chicago. There are different tour options where people can try different cultures and foods, each tour consisting of several venues within Chicago neighborhoods.
Discover genuine food establishments and learn about the unique history, culture, and architecture of each neighborhood. Tour options include a “Little India Tour,” a “Chow Chow Chinatown Tour,” and a “Little Arabia Tour.” You can also schedule a private tour and customize your discovery of cultures and foods.
Experience a new side of Chicago, with new tastes, and educational information from your tour guide. Learn more about the “Spice of Life Tour” and explore this wonderful opportunity next time you are looking for a unique food experience!
We at Paul Sur Buick GMC love serving the fabulous city of Chicago, Illinois. Spring and summer are beautiful around the city and we like to believe that Chicago is in bloom. One of our favorite places to visit during this time is the Lincoln Park Zoo.
The Lincoln Park Zoo is free, which is only part of the reason it is a great place to visit. It is located along the lakefront in Chicago’s North Side Lincoln Park neighborhood and is gorgeous this time of year. In addition to the natural beauty, the zoo has several unique events on the calendar during this time.
There are several guided garden tours during this season where the Lincoln Park Zoo’s Horticultural Department will showcase its flowers. Another way to enjoy the peaceful area is to take part in Adult Yoga at the Zoo. This takes place on the zoo’s Nature Boardwalk and is geared toward beginner and intermediate yoga practitioners. There is also parent and toddler yoga on Thursdays!
On some evenings this summer, there will be adult-focused evenings at the zoo. These Adult Night Outs will allow those 18 and older to experience a quieter evening at the zoo.
These are just a few of the available options at the Lincoln Zoo this summer. Be sure to check out the zoo’s website for a complete listing and for registration options of different events!
